Kalikova & Associates Partners, Ulan Tilenbaev and Alexander Ahn, took part in the Kyrgyz- Czech business forum held in Bishkek on March 16, 2016. The business forum was organized with support from the Kyrgyz and Czech Chambers of Commerce and Industry for representatives of government authorities, diplomatic missions, enterprises, and business associations of both countries.
The main purpose of the business forum was to develop and expand economic relations between the Kyrgyz and Czech companies.
On March 11, 2016, Jyldyz Tagaeva, Kalikova & Associates Senior Lawyer, participated in the forum on Mining Policy in Kyrgyzstan: prospects and issues. The forum was organized by the University of Central Asia with support from the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The topics covered by the forum included the management of revenues from the mining sector, operations and life cycle of the mining companies, attracting investment in the mining sector, environmental sustainability and social responsibility.
Magomed Saaduev, Kalikova & Associates Partner, participated in the meeting of IFC partners in CIS and the Balkans held from March 1 to 4, 2016 in Belgrade, Serbia. The meeting was organized within the framework of the Corporate Governance Project, in which Kalikova & Associates is involved.
The meeting was devoted to the discussion of the future development plans for corporate governance and the progress achieved in this regard.

In October 2015 Kalikova & Associates lawyers, Magomed Saaduev, Ruslan Sulaimanov and Meerim Talantbek kyzy, attended training courses on “Management of disputes and negotiations inside of the Board of directors” and “Corporate governance in small and medium-size enterprises” organized by IFC Project on Corporate Governance in Central Asia jointly with Anyk Audit company. Members of the Boards of directors and executive body, as well as representatives of business community and lawyers took part in training courses.
The main idea of the training course on “Management of disputes and negotiations inside of the Board of directors” was to help the participants to develop skills of inter-personal settlement of disputes, prevention of conflicts and management of conflict situations. In the framework of the training course “Corporate governance in small and medium-size enterprises” practical tasks have been reviewed and recommendations on introducing corporate governance in small and medium-size enterprises have been provided.
Upon completion of the training courses all participants received certificates.
On September 17, 2015, Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia held the Challenges of Establishment, Operation and Expenditure of Regional Development Funds round-table discussion within the framework of its project on the transparent and effective local management of income of mining companies through regional development funds. The event was held with financial support from Soros Foundation -Kyrgyzstan and in partnership with the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The main goal of the round-table discussion was to develop key recommendations for the establishment and transparent administration of regional development funds based on the needs of the local communities.
Kalikova & Associates lawyers Satkyn Beketaeva and Jyldyz Tagaeva delivered a presentation on the challenges and recommendations based on the legal analysis of the standard regulation on the formation of regional development funds and the laws of the Kyrgyz Republic governing the establishment and operation of regional development funds.
The round-table discussion resulted in the decision to establish a working group responsible for the development of recommendations for amending the laws of the Kyrgyz Republic to improve the overall performance of regional development funds.
Kalikova & Associates Senior lawyer, Asel Momoshova, participates in the International Summer School in IT-Law at Leibniz Universität Hannover (Hannover, Germany) from July 20 to August 14, 2015.

The primary aim of the program is to provide an overview of EU regulation in the field of IT and to draw attention to its development in reaction to dynamic advancement of technologies and arising legal issues.
On August 6, 2015 the President of the Kyrgyz Republic signed Air Code which will enter into force upon expiration of 6 months from the date of its official publication.
Lawyers of Kalikova & Associates took active part in activities of the working group established for the purpose of drafting Air Code. The project was implemented together with the Association of Civil Aviation Enterprises of the Kyrgyz Republic, Civil Aviation Agency of the Kyrgyz Republic under the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Kyrgyz Republic with support of USAID BGI (Reforma) Project.
